EA Desktop - "You don't have access" and "an error on our end caused it to fail"

I only have one EA account, connected to EA Play through Xbox Games pass. I have downloaded ME legendary edition through the EA Beta Desktop App and put 36 hours into it over the last few months.

Today I left the game paused while I ate dinner, I came back played for 30 seconds then it crashed. After it crashed the EA desktop app stopped letting me launch the game saying that I do not have access to the game. I figured maybe clicking "download" would get it to recognize the game files but it just erased everything in the folder C:\Program Files\EA Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Does this game save to the cloud? I'd be pretty darn pissed if I just lost all my progress.

Either way, I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue and what was their workaround? I haven't seen any posts like it in my quick searches over the last 30min.

    where are you downloading origin from?? it just links to ea app download..no origin download. origin is no more.

    Even when I try to download Apex, it gives me the same error☹️ Ive even had apex downloaded befoere just uninstalled for space and then when I saw your post tried to redownload and I'm still stuck with the same error...☹️ Im just tryin to play it takes two mannnnnn

    I started the apex download and then cancelled it and it actually worked? Thanks for the idea!

    ive tried the apex thing and it didn't work istg...i just wanna play some sims ☹️

    i have the exact same issue. tried all the trouble shooting mentioned nothing works. thes EA App is trash....

    agreed, when i thought the origin app couldnt get any worse... their response was CHALLENGE ACCEPTED... then named it after themselves... and this problem has persisted since feb 2022, its almost 2 years later and people are STILL having purchasing issues with it. how has a class action not been formed yet?
