Hello everyone,

Since last night, I've been facing issues with EA Desktop App on my laptop. Whenever I try to launch the app, I get a "Temporarily lost connection" error.

I've encountered the same issue a few months ago, and it let it fix by itself (first add EA Desktop app to exceptions list on my antivirus).

Sometimes, the issue fixes on its own, most of the time, the error still persists.

As much as I've prompted the app to restart, the error sometimes comes and goes, sometimes does not.

What I have tried, is:

run EA App as administrator

close and restart EA Desktop app

disable my antivirus and firewall

connect to my Wi-Fi network with Ethernet cable plugged in

plug the Ethernet cable out, for a while

power off laptop and turning it back on

restart laptop

Most of the time, none of these methods fix the problem, making the error prevent the app from launching.

Disabling my antivirus for a while, the error rarely shows up. However, launch takes place effectively.

Enabling it, the error shows up more often than disabling it and app therefore does not launch. If there is no error present, the app launches normally.

I have a very good internet connection, so I am not sure if it is connection related or not. Or if it has to do with access point. I am not sure about that either.

I am on a Windows 10 64-bit laptop, specs are: 8GB / 512GB SSD / Intel Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50 GHz

Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    @MadameNordicaHello,

The last time my antivirus had updated was on March 1st as I checked. Virus definitions are up to date as well. I am using Avast.

EDIT: By disabling the antivirus the issue sort of gets fixed. Not sure what else is causing it.

EDIT 2: I updated my Windows 10 and I am still getting the same issue.

i managed to get a solution to this, finally after a day of browsing forums, found that it was my antivirus blocking the EA app from running. The always online thing clashed it seemed with kaspersky being beyond silly when it came to apps running with a network connection. I found a work around that is baffling me still as to why it worked, but it worked so its whatever, the thread is here if anyone uses kaspersky: https://forum.kaspersky.com/topic/kaspersky-total-sec-suddenly-started-blocking-certain-connections-29939/

if not then i cant help, but i reckon the av program getting in the way is the main cause of it, even disabling may not get it to work, but if there is a workaround for it, im sure the forums have it on there.

  • @mikrolactaki3 I had this problem as well. I simply found the ea launcher in my folder and used that to access the Ea app. I remade a new shortcut and it worked just fine. Hope this helps.

    Here same,

always get the "Temorarily lost Connection error"

network is ipv4 only, static adresses

and inside fritzbox "wpad" filter set to on.

nothing helped here until i found my solution, so i like to

provide it. maybe it helps others:

    go to your folder: /windows/system32/drivers/etc/

open with a text editor the file "hosts"

and insert a new line with the content:

    127.0.0.1 WPAD

now the ea-app will start fine, always.

its also possible inside the fritzbox (router) set the wpad-filter to off.

but in terms of security, i do not recommend this.
