Switch the start mode of EABackgroundService from automatic to manual using services.msc in Windows 10; so it will be only active when you launch the ea app.

This does not fix the service still running after closing. This issue alone was enough for me to uninstall EA Desktop. I don't want services running in the background that I have to manually go out of my way to kill when I close the software.

Yeah, you're right. On my rig, it's just a temporary workaround (at startup) as the execution of the service is tied to the xbox app if you subscribe to EA Play for example. The EA Desktop App simply just doesn't work if it is disabled completely.

Yup, I uninstalled the stupid bloatware almost a year ago now
