    I found it. its connected to a windows service:

    Windows key --> type in services --> click on the services app new windows opens --> click in it --> type "e" to navigate to the "EABackgroundService" --> right click --> properties --> change start type to "manually"

EA Desktop. Liked the new look, hate the background service running even when the application is not. Uninstalled within minutes.

Origin has this background service too. Battle.net app too but theirs starts with the app and ends with the app.
