Desert Strike, now that brings me back. It's one of the first games that I played on DOS.
I have to disagree on what OP means though, they are saying that family members cannot play certain games and I assume that they are both trying to play on the same acount at the same time.
So what's the exact issue here? It sounds like you cannot log into your EA account and that you tried to recover your account through our support team.
Real issue is EA Desktop does not work. I can log in to Origin NO problem. Try to log into EA Desktop via my Xbox Live account info, which is the ONLY way to play EA games via GamePass, is NOT possible. Or, if it is, there is NO direction on how to get around this error or what it even means.
The error I get, as well as OP: EA Desktop isn't available. You can still use the old-school version of Origin to play your games.
That i the error we get and there is NO instruction on how to rectify this, without being interrogated for unimportant information relating to the actual problem.

I don't think that I have seen that error message before @KongBallz, can you share a screenshot of the error message?
Have you also tried logging into the EA app with your EA account instead of the Xbox account?

I have no problem logging in to EA Desktop with my EA profile. The issue has to do with logging in with my xbox live account VIA the EA Desktop App.
The issue I am stating that you have not seen yet is directly stated in the OP's remark.
Also, my xbox and EA accounts ARE linked. They have different names, but they are linked.
Attached screen shot of error and all of its informative glory.- EA_Jason4 years ago

I just had a look and looks like everything has been set up correctly now.
Can you check again and let me know if it is working?
