EA launcher does not start, "entry point not found"

Hello,

I tried to start EA play on my old laptop to play Battlefield 4 today. It worked well yesterday but today, it's impossible to start the EADesktop.exe and to start the game, even offline as it need the launcher.

The entry point "GetDpiFromDpiAwarenessContext" seem to be the problem.

I tried to repair, to uninstall/install, but it still does not work. I tried a Windows recovery but it did not succeed.

What can be done ?

Hello everyone,

We've pushed an EA app update to fix this "entry point not found" issue.

Please make sure you update EA app. You can do so by simply logging out and in again.

You will also need to update to Windows 10 as Windows 7/8 are no longer supported for EA app.

"Update: The Team is currently working on a hotfix to address this issue for all impacted users, including those on Windows 7 and Windows 8. The fix will require a Client reinstall/repair once it is available."

they have a big problem as, windows change, they try to be poolitical, intead of technical, looping from one bad behavior to another take or not the new packs as examples I have 99 the end is near when thier app dosn't even load in new environment

I can confirm the hotfix works, after the repair tool, the application started normally.
Thanks to the team, the fix was quick once the week end ended, it's really appreciated.
As a precaution, I disabled the automatic update in the parameters of the application. I also backed up the EA dekstop folder just in case I needed that version back in the future.

Okay so they fix this but they can’t fix madden servers? Help me understand

I don't think so.
The support team didn't provide a clear answer about whether it's possible to install the previous version of the app. I had to uninstall my previous version of W10 1511 because it refused to update.
Now I have the latest version of W10, and the EA desktop works perfectly. Although I have to download all the games again, at least the launcher starts up and there are no more errors. LOL
