EA Play automatically starts Jedi fallen order x2 instances

When I start EA play (Desktop) Jedi Fallen Order will automatically start, then 5 seconds later another instance of Jedi fallen order will start.

So i end up with 2 games playing at the same time.

Also if i close them both.

Then start Jedi Fallen Order, again it will open 2 instances of the game?

Is there a setting or config entry i have to change to stop this from happening.

Note: If i run the EA Play app as Admin then it does not open Jedi Fallen order.  But when i do run it, again it opens it twice.

  • Yep same issue. Just rebuilt my PC and had to uninstall Origin and install EA, and link my Origin Library. I've been opening Task Manager and when the second instance of JFO opens I end task the second launch.

Only thing of note is when watch Task Manager while the first instance of JFO opens, the EA app will be there running, then it will disappear from the list of running programs, then reappears, then the second instance of JFO opens over the first running one. Don't know what this means or if it has nothing to do with the issue.

Wish I had more info to help, but I'm still at a loss how to fix it.

Luckily as long as you shut down the second instance of the game it runs fine after that. It's just an annoying issue to have.

Having the same issue here as well, this issue has been happening for a very long time.

Started playing the game again the past couple days, the game launches twice every time I start it up.

Running Windows 10 and the EA Desktop App.  It does get annoying, because every time I have to wait for the 2nd instance to start, force close that one then I can continue playing.

To recreate the issue, all you have to do is run the game from the EA Desktop app.

I had the same issue - no matter how I launched the game (via shortcut, EA app etc.) it always started 2 instances. I managed to fix it by removing the contents of Jedi Survivor\SwGame\Binaries\Win64 and running Manage -> Repair in the EA app. Now it launches without any issues.

This worked for me!  It's the only real fix I've come across after looking through at least a couple of forums regarding this issue.  Thank you!
