Error launching games as Administrator

Product: EA Desktop
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) a437f46e-2232-4f7c-88f7-a2f1c5348dc6
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Launch Game
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 20.12.21 17:24
Summarize your bug When the game executable is set to "run as administrator" in the Windows Compatibility Settings, the EA App returns an error message when trying to launch the game and refuses to do so.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Navigate to the directory containing the main game executable, then right click it and select "Properties". Then, under the tab "Compatibility", click the option "Change settings for all users". On the pop-up window, tick the checkbox for "Run this application with administrator privileges", then apply and OK. Close the "Properties" window and try to launch the game via the EA Desktop App.
What happens when the bug occurs? The EA Desktop App returns the following error message (translated from Spanish): "A technical error occurred which prevents the game from launching. Please try again later Please try again later"
What do you expect to see? At least a UAC prompt if EA Desktop is not being run as Administrator.

Problem is that this error still occurs when EA Desktop is being run as Administrator, which is frustrating to me. I encountered this bug because I had set all my Origin games to run as Administrator because they won't launch without rebooting otherwise.

Example screenshot with The Sims 4 (EA Play) with the error message in Spanish is attached to this message.

  • Hi @SimulatorSon,

I have seen some instances where running the game/app normally without administrator privileges solves it. You can also try setting the UAC settings to the strictest settings and see what happens next.

Please give it a go and let me know what happens.

  • Hello,

same problem. My game - Battlefield 4 stuck in loading screen. I found out that it can be fixed when I run it as administrator.... whet I start it as administrator, EA client is not working. Always starts and instantly crashes and again and again... horrible services.... UAC settings doesnt helped me. Help me or refund.

Although I'm 4 years late in my report, an update on the EA app a few days after my first post fixed the issue. Thanks, EA_Jason

And Proklaty , I hope that you managed to get your game working. I mean, yeah, it's frustrating. But I reported this bug when EA app was on public beta... and things tend to go nuts while they're on beta.
