[FIXED] Sims 3 DLC download error, "Something went wrong"

Hi everybody!

Is there anyone experiencing issues with the EA app? I've been trying all night long to download/install The Sims 3 + Add-ons, but once the Sims 3 is installed, the add-ons won't installed; it keeps giving me this message '' something went wrong ''. So I am not sure what to do and what's going on.

I even tried to open the Sims 3 by clicking on the icon on the desktop (since it's the only one that got installed), but it's telling me it won't works if I do not have Origin installed. So I am confuse since I thought Origin was no longer a thing...

I'm not sure what to do; Sims 3 is downloading and installing from the EA app, but once I tried to open the game, it gave me the Origin message . And afterward, the add-ons won't install because '' something went wrong ''.

Does anyone know what to do? Is it happening to someone else as well?

    Our EA app development teams have been hard at work and have issued several fixes for the EA app, especially addressing the particular Sims 3 DLC download error, "Something went wrong".


    Are you continuing to see this error message? If so, please let us know in this thread and be sure to include the necessary details we've asked for here.

    Our teams are still hard at work investigating the issue, but in the meantime, they've released a new update for the EA app. This update includes some fixes that should solve a big part of the problem or at least reduce the frequency of the error messages when trying to download The Sims 3 DLCs through the app.

    Now, we're not saying the issue is completely fixed yet, but we'd really appreciate it if you could check if your EA app is up to date (at the time of writing, the latest version is 13.37.0.5550) or try manually updating it using the steps provided here

    @07a02e7be1d31d14  Are you currently unable to download some or all Sims 3 packs?  If so, which ones are affected, and what do you see when you try?

    I ask because it appears that one version of this issue has been fixed but another has not.  I'd like to know whether you fit in the second category or are evidence that the first is not fixed after all.

    This has been an EA-side issue that needed to be addressed by EA for all players at once.  Your contacts with customer support wouldn't have anything to do with when or whether this was fixed for you personally.

    Tried this. It shows up as just EA. The packs that I have show up as "you have this" but I still cannot download.

    I wonder if it matters that these were once physical copies I transferred to digital? Is that maybe the issue?

  • All install fine, just don’t detect when I load the game. Only the EA Play games are detected on the sims 3 Launcher

  • Hi EA_Leeu,

    The error no longer appears and my DLCs now show up in the launcher but I cannot confirm if they instaled correctly now the Sims 3 launcher crashes when I click Play.

    I also cannot install any of my Sims 3 installed content either. I can download them from the Sims 3 website but then when I select them all in the downloads pane and click install, it looks like its loading but then nothing actually happens so even though my expansions are supposedly installed, I cannot tell if they appear in game as the game won't start up.

    Issues with this game have been going on for months now. Could we just have our content transferred to Steam please? I never wanted the app, I was forced to use it when EA pulled Sims 3 from Steam after only releasing some of the content. After all that nonsense, its back on Steam so could we not transfer our keys over there please? -  The EA app is more trouble than its worth and its weeks later and I still cannot play the game I paid for.

    The EA app is up to date - It was version 13.79.0.5592 but I have upgraded it manually to version 13.82.0.5595

    It appears that the issue with the "Something went wrong" error message during the Sims 3 DLC download on the EA app has indeed been resolved, as we can see by the significant drop in reports and confirmations from players. As a result, we plan to close this thread shortly.
