game already running

this happens to me way to often and have found no answer as to what causes it or what can actually fix it. I play mostly single player games and sometimes i get these random crashes and when i try to launch the game ea play says ( the game is already running, should play it it's a good one) but its not actually running. this pops up with my entire library they all say they are running. i checked task manager, cleaned cache, deleted, reinstalled games and ea play still same, restart pc sometimes works sometimes doesnt and for now months no clear answer anywhere in forums from no one. * EA services

  • except it does. Thanks.

i'm going on day 2 of this issue. multiple reboots, multiple "repair app" multiple reinstall of ea app. no games work.

I created a new windows account and it worked until that one restarted now it says the same thing.

  • I have been trying to play the game for the last hour....I have signed out signed back in, checked Task manager 4 or 5 times and its not there. I end all tasks relating to EA and try and launch again but its still saying the game is till running in the background. I have uninstalled the game and repaired the game and still nothing.

Makes me think why I spend all the money I do, to not be able the play my games.

I'm very disappointed to be honest, I never had any issues with origin.

  • I have this exact same issue and it's absolutely happening after a restart. What is going on with your program? Whats even stranger is that after a restart the program says its running even though nothing has been started to run. This makes absolutely no sense at all.

    Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Uninstalled Reinstalled

    2. Repaired

    3. Clearned DNS when I have no idea what DNS clearing has to do with a game utilizing local resources to run

    4. Clear cache in app.

    5. Checked Task Manager (The Game itself does not show as running)
    6. Gone to Game Mode settings in Windows

    7. Checked setting for my GPU

    8. Verified Folders

Please do not provide links to other forums, especially if those forums reference origin. You guys need to actually put some technicians on this issue to provide viable step by steps on how to fix. If needed contact any of us over teams or zoom and we can share our screens.

  • This is what worked for me:
    1) uninstall the EA App and restart PC
    2) Delete these folders (AppData is a hidden folder)
    C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts
    C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\EADesktop
    C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Origin
    3) Reinstall EA app and start it; If not all of your installed games are visible then restart the client - this should populate the list.
    Enjoy gaming as usual 🙂
