Forum Discussion
Hey, @nestRider701 when it comes to Account issues, it's not something we can help with on the forums, and you need to reach out to our game advisors on EA support.
How to get in contact with EA support:

Hi, thank you for your response.
I have tried to fix this issue by opening tickets and chatting with the operators, and they are never any help. The way the site is set up means you are directed in a closed loop that takes you nowhere when dealing with an issue like this. None of the categories are a good fit, and it seems to be totally impossible to just send a detailed email to customer service and receive personalized help. I am close to just giving up on ever playing this again (one of my all time favorite games).
Additionally, I have another problem which possibly could be assisted by the forums. Not sure whether or not it needs its own thread or not, but the game just won't launch, at all. I never had issues with this game until they killed origin and made it into this EA launcher thing. Very frustrating and upsetting.
Oh how I miss physical copies of things. You used to be able to pay for something and then actually own it. All I have to show for my purchase here is a broken desktop icon that does nothing.
Can you possibly direct me to a way I can perform some kind of diagnostic check on my game or my client? I could probably figure it out myself if I could just get some kind of error log or something.
Thanks in advance!

Hello again, I just attempted to launch the game again, and I got a message saying:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)
Click OK to close the application."This at least feels like a step in the right direction because now I have an error code. It didn't even mention that stupid 'xbox account' thing from the other day.
Can you possibly advise?
Thank you- Nest

UPDATE: I tried to install DirectX and .NET framework, but the installer said that they were already installed, for both programs.

Also as a fix (or rather a workaround) - remove the Xbox App and reboot and try again with BF3/BF4. If that doesn't work, try clearing the cache and/or reinstalling EA Desktop/App. You shouldn't need to redownload or reinstall games. Also reboot and try again. Mine works fine as long as the Xbox App is not installed. Then I also do not get this error message.

Trying your short solution first. I'm posting now because I think you might actually be onto something here.
I have loaded up the 'Xbox app' (despite never owning an Xbox I might add), which I APPARENTLY HAVE AN ACCOUNT IN! This is huge! It is logged in as my Minecraft username.
So, because I play Minecraft (which I purchased in 2010), I somehow have a 'Microsoft account' (whatever that is), and it does indeed appear that I may be logged in to that with some random username I didn't know about.
I miss the days when you could pay for something and then you could just use it. Crazy to think how agonizing and frustrating the internet/computers have become.

@EA_Atic You are mistaken. This is not an account issue at all. I have the same issue. I have never linked an EA account with Xbox. What actually happens is either the EA Play / Desktop app or the Xbox App figures out that you have installed EA Play games through the EA App/Desktop which are also available on and also part of the Game Pass subscription. After this happens - EA Play will give this "Your xbox and ea accounts don't match" error. This problem arises only when your Xbox account is just a different email address to the one on your EA account that you have logged in to EA App/Desktop with. There is no linking of accounts at any point and I do not see a reason why there would be. Everything worked without issue with the Origin App.
You will experience no issues if you do not install and/or login to the Xbox app and just install and play games via EA App/Desktop. Working as designed I see? (lol)
TLDR; Install game in EA App (email #1) -> play said game without an issue -> Install and login to Xbox app (email #2) -> restart, play an Xbox game or wait for a while -> Try to again play on EA App/Desktop you will receive error message "Your xbox and ea accounts don't match" when playing a game which requires Battlelog, like BF3, BF4, BF Hardline... Bad Company 2 works normally since it has an ingame server browser doesn't require launching via Battlelog.
So please, fix your application!
Screenshots for proof (I never installed any EA game on Xbox App..)

@rkantosFIN Thank you very much for writing such a detailed post. I actually completely gave up all hope of ever playing this game again about 2 weeks ago (after being sent around in circles by EA chat 'help' for hours). I just came to the forum to check on my post, did not expect to see such a comprehensive response - thanks again.
I have not tried your solution yet but I will update when I do.

This pile of steaming nonsense is still not fixed after 3 **bleep** years. I eventually took the time to link accounts, even though I've never had an XBOX, and it's still not working. Wonderful. Please fix or give a way to fix this.
What a clown show.
