Game won't launch

Game bought on Steam several years ago, ME Andromeda (despite the tepid overall reception it's one of only a few games I leave installed on my system year after year), started playing again this past week or so. Worked fine until a few days ago, now upon attempting to launch I get "preparing game" for a minute or two then the launcher simply stops trying to load it.

This app sucks.

Edit: as I write this, the game suddenly launched about 10 minutes after I clicked the launch button.

Yep, that's quite the launcher they've put together there.
