I had the exact same problem as you described. I don't know what caused this but after some time I started getting this error too. Generally, you should verify game files, but since I couldn't find that option in the EA Desktop app, I completely reinstalled the game and it fixed my problem. Depending on your Internet connection it may take some time, but I've done it like a week ago and it still works to this day.
Also, if you get kicked shortly after joining a server, you may need to (re)install PunkBuster Anti-Cheat, which has to be downloaded and installed manually.
