could you go to where the origin exe is located and find the version for it?
oct 2022 is real old, I'm surprised it didn't update you.
I know even dec 2022 is old for it
also just tested nfs2015 and it's fine (totally online game)
so blocking the api only block's origin's own cloud services.
so unless your game SPECIFICALLY uses origin's services (unlikely unless it's only on the origin storefront and no other), you should be alright.
micro tranactions might be a bit weird, but well...
not sure about product verification tho, but unless you game is having troubles, you should also be good
TL;DR - manually restore your origin folders in appdata local and roaming, plus program data to the last version before it had the popup THEN manually download the corresponding origin version from the akamaihd, and manually replace the origin files in your programs with that version.
Finally, block the api in your hosts file and launch origin.
Since the mac version probably uses all the same endpoints and such, you shouldn't have problems in the future?
DISCLAIMER: blocking the host file will block your origin client from knowing it needs a critial update (that's how even in offline mode to my knowledge, it is able to tell you to install them^), which is probably nothing unless your specific version of origin has a bug or something...
^-since your background services probably can reach the server
Is this still working for you? Getting error 500 EVERY DAY. Hours troubleshooting ending in tears. Here I was worried I couldn’t play offline to avoid a game patch, never imagined I wouldn’t be able to play at all!
thought I was SO SMART demanding the origin link from them and downloading it after uninstalling EA. Was now looking up how to block EA when I found this thread. Feeling defeated again and should have known others would have thought of this. Ugh.

Hi hi,
I often get a 500 error, when I tried to launch Sims 4 from my desktop which then went to opening the EA app and show me 500 error (no game launched).
Thought to chime in what (normally) works for me:
- Quit EA app from your tray ^ - Right click then exit.
- Next Ctrl-Alt-Del to launch your Task Manager, find "EA background service" and kill it.
- After which, try to launch your game from desktop again.
Good luck!
