Was this ever fixed? I was forced to update on 2/28/23 and the same thing happened to me. I chatted with a person from EA Support and they said it was a known issue. I'm irritated that it was a known issue months ago and they still forced people to install this app. I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars on the Sims franchise content, and other games, that I now can no longer access.
Somebody make it make sense...PLEASE!

@nakei_lilly Have you tried installing the Origin Thin app instead? It fixed it somewhat for me and at least allows me to play my Sims games.
