I can't click on anything in game

I had been off the sims 4 for months because i was sick of the bugs. Last time i played was last summer. I decided to pick it back up and buy the new expansion because it appealed to me. I updated all mods and loaded in and started a new save file. I found that i couldnt click on my sim at all. Left click just enabled the spin sim feature and right click did the same. I loaded the game without mods to see if it did it and it still did it. I loaded a basic sim into a new world and i couldn't click on anything in the world and none of the sims. I literally cant play im so upset after so long not playing and then coming back spending money and i cant even play. has anyone experienced this or knows how to help because im genuinely so upset right now. ive repaired my game and delted the thumb cache but nothing changed and i am so frustrated any help is greatly appreciated. I play on PC
