Impossible to launch Sims 4 without Internet connection

Product: The Sims 4 Platform:PC Which language are you playing the game in? English How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%) What is your current game version number? I can't launch it, so...

EA also comes up with the bright spark idea, to have the app tell you "hey we haven't seen you online in awhile, you need to log in to continue playing"

Ummm I'm out of internet range - How the F&%$ do I do that?

I just want to play the game I spent lots and lots and lots of money on!  ☹️
