Hey, I saw that there was an update this morning. I tried to launch it but it's stuck at 3%. I've restarted the EA app multiple times but each time I have the same problem.

Ever since the switch from Origin to EA on Mac, I've had issues every time the Sims puts out an update. When I try to repair the game, it gets stuck at 51%. When trying the update, I never make it past 3%. I've tried clearing the EA cache, deleting and re-downloading EA, and restarting my computer. It's not my wifi either, I can't get any closer to the router and everything else is running smoothly. Help!

My game is installed on an external HD that is never removed from the computer and had no issues prior to requiring the update. What else can I do.

Cerena13 Rather than updating, try repairing the game, which will automatically give you the fully-updated version. Clear the EA App's cache first: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/ If that doesn't help, please disable your antivirus, temporarily, and try again to repair. As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe, and you can reenable the AV as soon as you've tested Sims 4.

Cerena13 If you clear the App's cache and restart again, does the repair still get stuck at 51%, or does it progress further? You definitely have an antivirus of some kind unless you went out of your way to disable Windows Defender. But Defender doesn't typically cause this kind of problem. Where exactly is your game installed? You can see the path in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.

Tried downloading the new sims 4 update and it got stuck at 3%. I restarted the app and cleared the cache, then tried repairing instead. It consistently went up fast in % until it reached 51% where it stopped suddenly. It’s since gone up to 56% but that’s over about an hour. if it continues like this it’ll take like 10 hours to finish, I’m not sure this is right..

I have been trying to download the latest update most of the day. It will get to 3% and then drop back down to 0%. it will do this multiple times before it finally gives an error message. I have cleared the cache through the app. Also uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I have restarted my computer. The issue is still happening. What else can I do to try to get around this problem?

Did you ever find a fix for this issue? I've been going on a month of this same issue and tried all the suggestions with zero luck. Really frustrated as I want to get then new expansion pack but can't until the game updates

I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing the problem after these steps. There are a couple more things you can try:

Press Win + R, type: %ProgramData% > Delete the EA Desktop and Origin folders if they exist.

Then go to: %AppData% > Delete the EA Desktop, Origin, and Sims 4 folders from both Roaming and Local.

Try to install The Sims 4 in a new folder.

Run a Clean boot:

EA_cuervo Thanks for the response. I tried all of your suggestions a few min ago and it still will not update. Runs for a few min showing "preparing" then says unknown error has occured

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems updating your The Sims 4. I see you've already tried a couple of steps, but here are a few more things you could try:

Make sure the drive where Sims 4 is installed has enough free space.

Run the EA app as administrator: Right-click the EA App shortcut → Run as Administrator.

Temporarily disable Antivirus/Firewall

Pause OneDrive syncing (If OneDrive is syncing your Documents folder, it can block file access);
- Right-click the OneDrive icon in the system tray.
- Select Pause syncing.

I am having a issues updating my sims 4 game. I have tried repairing it and it will get to 51% then give an "unknown error", I have tried updating the game and it gets to 3% preparing and either gets stuck or gives an unknown error. I am using the PC app and window 11
Fixes I have tried include: clearing cache, logging out and back in, restarting app, restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the ea app itself, and going offline and back online but the issue still continues. it has been going on for over 48hrs and is beyond frustrating
