Please describe Linking Xbox Account with EA App
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 04/17/2022
Summarize your bug I tried installing Mass Effect Legendary Edition on my Xbox app on my PC via my game pass, It launches EA App then says "Something went wrong...To continue linking your EA Account, head back and start over." Trying to log into my xbox account manually in the EA app takes me a page saying my password was wrong and that i sent an email out for recovery. Neither account EA or Xbox has a link to the other.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try installing said game from an xbox game pass account not already successfully linked to an EA App.
What happens when the bug occurs? As stated above it happens when attempting to log into my xbox account via the EA App.
What do you expect to see? I want to be able to play the content.
All relevant information is posted above.
Solution: install the game from the EA app after starting the install from the xbox app while the xbox app just sits there at 0%. Both clients are downloading in tandem now. Pausing in EA app pauses xbox. That sounds like a syncing or permissions issue with the apps.
Also i think the shell account was created when i tried to log in with my xbox account as prompted via the linking page on EA's website. Instructions unclear cat stuck in ceiling fan. Might want to redo your wording on the linking on pc. I am not the only person that has this issue and im sure the majority of the people who do accidentally created an EA account trying to launch their first EA game via their game pass on pc. There needs to be a clear way to link the EA account to an Xbox account WHILE LOGGED IN to the EA account or vice versa. I only got the accounts to link by unlinking my fake EA account, logging out of the EA app then launching the Mass Effect installer in the Xbox app, logging into my real EA account and accepting the link.
I understand the idea behind who ever set up the interaction that way, but I as an end user am not the only one who thinks like i do. I encountered this problem and i solved it yes, but not everyone is going to have the drive to solve something like this. "oh well, guess EA and Xbox dont want my money" and move on. Easy fix, easy money.
