Summarize your bug Whenever I launch an EA title from Steam it opens a temporary window called Link2EA and then closes the window followed by the actual EA App opening on the actual game hub page of the game I am trying to launch and then shows a pop-up stating: "You don't have access".
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Purchase EA Play for a year on Steam. Add a game to the Steam Library. Download the game. Launch the game. Go through the prompts to link your Steam and EA accounts. When asked to 2FA select App and watch as it doesn't wait for you to complete the process and simply tries to launch the game. Get the error "You don't have access". Click back to the window where you were still busy with 2FA, complete the process and receive the confirmation prompt. Try the launch the game again now and continue to receive the error: "You don't have access". Unlink your accounts within the account web interface and link them again as the error states you need to do this. Once linked again dread having to unlink them again as you now have a prompt telling you that if you do unlink your accounts again you wont be able to link them again until November (in 8months time). Try to not let the prompt effect you as you try to confince yourself that it will work this time and launch the game again from Steam only to be told again: "You don't have access". Uninstall the application and remove all residual files from your system and I do mean ALL OF THEM as well as remove any entries from the registry and restart. Do a clean install and once done launch the EA App and launch the game from Steam. Link2EA pop-up - check EA App opens on Game Hub page - check Error stating "You don't have access", please don't check, please don't check and... - check Sit in frustration as you don't understand why this error is happening as even the game in the EA App shows in the corner that it recognises the game as a Steam linked game.
What happens when the bug occurs? I will repeat: Purchase EA Play for a year on Steam. Add a game to the Steam Library. Download the game. Launch the game. Go through the prompts to link your Steam and EA accounts. When asked to 2FA select App and watch as it doesn't wait for you to complete the process and simply tries to launch the game. What do you expect to see? I wish to see peace between game distribution platforms. Having the Game Launch would also be great.
Hi there,
I've recently (yesterday) decided to jump into a bit of gaming again after quite the hiatus. I started by opening my Origin app only to find that I was blocked by this massive pop-up in the application from using it. I was instructed to download the new, much better, much more improved game distribution application from EA, the creatively called... EA App.
What could I say, you have me convinced (forcefully), let's do it. Thankfully the download and Install was a breeze and the uninstall of Origin was almost non-existent. We're off to a good start. Let's log in and go to the library.
Wait, where are my games? The amount in the top left shows correc... wait when did I loose about 20% of my game library and the games that are there aren't loading, the box art is all blank and I can't click on anything.
Nevermind probably just a temp and cache issue, although on a brand new application, what are the odds of that? Nevermind let's close the app, nuke all the temp files and folders and sign back in.
There we go the 80% of my library that is visible in the application is atleast showing up now.
Alright lets download and install a game. Click install and there we go, preparing...
Let's go grab a coffee and see how long this is going to take when we return.
Spongbob Splashscreen stating "10 minutes later"
Still preparing... an hour later... still preparing.
Very well let's cancel and install something else.
Cancelling...
Preparing...
Still even now the next day...
Seriously...
You know what, let's try and play the game through Steam and hopefully that will work. I don't own the game on Steam however I can just purchase EA Play and gain access to it that way on Steam. Alright, purchased, added to library and downloaded.
Alright great, already further than on the EA App. Press play...
Strange Link2EA pop-up, alright whatever.
EA App opens up on the game hub page of the game and even shows it is a Steam linked game great and launc... Error "You don't have access"
Probably an issue in how my accounts were linked, even though I did everything 100%. Let's relink the accounts. Close EA App, unlink, link, open EA App and... my library isn't loading again.
Close EA App, clear all temp, Open EA App, great library showing, launch game in Steam, Link2EA pop-up, EA App on Game Hub page and... "You don't have access"
At this point in time I'm just curious to know, does anything in this app actually work? Since even EA chat support couldn't assist me.
