Re: "Couldn't connect to servers" error in EA app (Aug. 15, '23)

The Electronic Arts launcher does not connect to the internet, it says "unable to connect, try again later", and my internet is normal. Help with EA was a failure, so I'm trying here.

Because of this problem, it becomes IMPOSSIBLE to use ANY EA product, since when trying to open any EA game, the launcher opens, but, as already informed, it does not open, making such an act impossible.

I have received this error as well; however, I only get it when trying to launch Sims4, I have been successful launching other games without the same error on the EA app. I'm providing my dxdig report as well. I have been unable to launch since the last update on Sims4. Prior to this error I received the Failed to launch try again later, but the repair game worked, or I was able to launch using GEFORCE app. I did file a tech case on this issue my case number is 152407233. I have followed every troubleshooting on EA Help as well as uninstalling/reinstalling both Sims4 as well as I tried to uninstall/reinstall the EA app. I reset my modem (even though I knew it wasn't my internet connection) I also did a direct connection to my modem and still same error. I have done speed tests for my internet connection; I use highest speed with Cox Communications for internet.

Please let me know if you need anything more.

@Sr_abobrinha Thank you. There was an updated version of your GPU drivers, so if you haven't yet, I would do a fresh install of those. For the connection error, I would run through the following and see if this helps. It is a generic error, so it could be a lot of simple things that cause it.

  • In the case of not being able to reset the computer, is there a more "practical" solution?

And update on the case: Now EA play just stays on a gray screen forever, and no message is displayed, not even an error.

I tried all the attempts proposed by you, (with the exception of restarting the computer) none of them worked. Is there any possibility that my ISP has blocked the port to the EA play server?

@Sr_abobrinha ISP restrictions are a hard one to answer. Not everyone has the same ISP and since we cannot see that on our end, we would have to chase that one down and get a lot of info to make sure that is not happening.

I merged yours with a larger thread that we are collecting info on.

Guys.. I guess it kinda fixed it when I connected to my hotspot. Then connected to WiFi, it’s working So weird.

@Ukk3 Hotspot generally has a lot less barriers than a standard connection. That is good to know though. I hope others are able to able to play if they try connecting the same way.

  • Still not working. I tried with another device using the same wifi as my computer and it entered the EA app normally. VC++, video card and windows are up to date. Windows temporary files folder is clean. The "Couldn't connect to servers" message no longer appears. It just stays on a gray screen, running as administrator or not, I check in the task manager and the EA app is at full throttle using the CPU, but nothing from it gives any signal. More and more strange.

@Sr_abobrinha Did you try a different connection or a hotspot? Those have unfiltered connections which is why some do work.

  • @EA_Shepard On the same wifi that my computer is connected to, it worked normally on another device. For some reason, it's specifically on my computer, I've tried using VPN and it didn't work, reinforcing the thesis that there's something wrong with my computer. (even though it is theoretically capable of running a mere app). Perhaps the most viable option is to restore my computer (something I'm definitely not in a position to do at the moment), unfortunately.

@Sr_abobrinha Just out of curiosity, has the problem been resolved for anyone out there? Mine remains to this day. This is a complicated situation.
