@puzzlezaddict, I can't locate a good download link for Origin, so I have not been able to try that.

When I installed Origin, it immediately gave me a pop-up saying that Origin was discontinued, and I HAD to install the EA app. It wasn't possible to interact with Origin at all or to tell it to start a download. But then I noticed that my expansion packs were downloading, even though I couldn't actually DO anything with Origin. (I had to request the download on the EA app before uninstalling it and installing Origin to get this to work.) So, yay! Thank you so much!
I don't know why it didn't work when I tried it the other day, but it worked this time. Maybe because I downloaded Origin from another link the first time? That's the only thing I can think of that was different, but I'm not sure that it mattered. Regardless, glad I could finally download Pets. Thanks!
@puzzlezaddict, it did work, and the steps in the related post worked. Everything is installed, and when I choose play in EA, the Sims3 Launcher opens. But when I press play in the launcher, nothing happens.

- @puzzlezaddict juegoconfuego's fix still isn't working for me. No downloads start on Origin. :'(
@boo985boo You do need to at least try to start the download in the EA App first. If that doesn't help and you have an older install of Origin, try uninstalling and reinstalling it: you may need to allow Origin to auto-update your games. This setting can't be accessed through Origin anymore due to the EA App pop-up, but a fresh install would restore default settings.

@puzzlezaddict It worked!!! It must have been the keep games up to date setting. Or maybe the fact I'm on a faster wifi network now. Either way, I can finally play my game again! Thanks so much! I just wish EA would make a fix or just let us have Origin back. I've had nothing but problems with their new launcher.
