HEY THERE,
I literally had the same issue just now literally a few days after you posted this 02/17.
I had the same run around with EA support with the links to clear the cache, run as an administrator etc.
I found a work around by installing Origin and downloading the game that way!

did you use the origin for mac on a pc? the origin app is no longer available for pc, but if you did use it, how well does the mac version work for pc?
