Sims 3 expansion won't download

I am attempting to play the newest expansions to the game I invested so much money and time in; I purchased the downloads directly from EA back when it released. When I attempt to download these expansion packs in the EA app, it will never complete the download. The EA installer will just get stuck in a loop "preparing" the download, then eventually will fail. I've spent many hours trying:

• Uninstalling the game and reinstalling in a different order, even if I try to download Into the Future or Island Paradise first, it will not download, but the EA installer will load all other expansions fine.
• Repairing the game and attempting the download again. Repairing the App and attempting again. 
• Tried installing so many old versions of Origin, tried letting it install in the background trick, doesn't work. Origin will auto download everything BUT the two I want the most.

I've read other forum posts; I see many others with the same issue but no resolution. Has EA released any solutions, or do they just expect me to invest another grand in Sims 4 (oh I already did and I still love Sims 3 more)
