So I received the following message form EA Support this morning: Not very helpful - but at least this is a known issue they are working on and none of us have gone crazy 🙂

I hope you are doing well. Having reviewed your email, I came to know that you are facing game launching/downloading issue. "SIMS 3" You do not need to worry, I'll surely do my best to help you with it.
Please let me share, most of the player reporting the same, It's a known issue and we are aware about it. I would like to inform you our developer team is working on it they will fix it soon.
