@Faye87 Can you attach a DxDiag for me? I would like to see if Windows shows anything. Sounds like something is just blocking that from staying as an active program.

@Faye87 Thank you. Can you save it to a file and attach the file here? There is quite a bit of info on the file we need to see.

@Faye87 Thank you. Looking at your file I can see a few issues going on. The first thing is the CPU is below system requirements. With the Sims, you can run it for a bit, but with more updates, content, and items being added, it gets to be too much for the computer.

Looking at your error report I can see the following issues

    Sims mod program causing errors
Your GPU drivers are almost a year out of date
You have a PC memory leak
Multiple random programs are causing Windows errors

    Steps to start updating this
Remove any and all mods, mod programs, and mod folders
Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates

Install/Repair your VC++ files for the game (Microsoft VC++ Link)

    Reset Windows Host File

I would also suggest cleaning out your registry as well which you can do from here: Guide for Troubleshooting Graphics issues

(cm edit - updated links for drivers)

  • @Faye87  You may or may not be able to update your graphics driver at all.  HP restricts which drivers can install on most of its non-gaming laptops, at least for a while after the laptops' release.  Trying to circumvent this might not work, and if it does, the results might be less than ideal.

Instead, please link the driver download page for your laptop.  Go here:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

Enter your laptop's serial number, choose your OS (just Windows 11 is fine), and you'll land on the driver download page for your system.  Please link it here.  The page doesn't contain any information about your account, or your own computer, just the overall model.  The page will show whether HP currently offers a newer graphics driver or any other driver that might be relevant here.

By the way, did you recently reset your laptop to factory settings or similar?  I ask because the dxdiag only lists a few recent errors, which could indicate a system issue or just mean that data was reset very recently.

For troubleshooting purposes, please try playing in a clean user folder.  This is the fastest way to start narrowing down the source of the issue.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

Updated the GPU link to the correct link that should have appropriate information within the page. 👍
