Summarize your bug I'm unable to download the update for The Sims 4, which prevents me from playing the game. This issue has already been reported in The Sims 4 forum (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Why-does-the-new-sims-4-update-take-19-GB-of-storage/m-p/12281822/highlight/false), but I'm reporting it again here because I think it's a bug in the EA App, not in the game itself. When I click the button in the EA App to update The Sims 4, I get a popup telling me that the update requires 19.90 GB of disk space and I only have ~400 MB disk space available. This is incorrect. I have ~12 GB of disk space available according to Windows File Explorer. But I also don't believe that the update really requires 19.90 GB of disk space. There seems to be an error in the amount of space being checked for. Please fix this issue by making the update check only for the amount of space that is really required for the update. In case it's relevant, I also want to mention that I hadn't updated or played the game since December 18, 2022. Maybe this issue is only happening because I had missed several updates during that time.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Set up a test environment where the EA App and the game The Sims 4 are at the update status where they were on December 18, 2022. Also make sure there is less than 19 GB disk space available. Then open the EA App and attempt to update The Sims 4.
What happens when the bug occurs? A popup appears saying that there is not enough disk space. After closing the popup, the update stalls indefinitely at 5% progress.
What do you expect to see? I expect the game to be updated normally without issues. I also expect my 12 GB of free disk space to be enough to install updates to The Sims 4.
