Steam License Invalid - Unable to play 'Mass Effect Legendary Edition'

Hi, I'm having an issue launching Mass Effect Legendary Edition through Steam. Every time I try to start the game, I get an error saying my game license is invalid.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Restarting my PC and Steam
Logging out and back into both Steam and the EA app
Running both Steam and the EA app as an administrator
Verifying game files through Steam
Uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app
Reinstalling Mass Effect Legendary Edition (3x)
Checked for Directx Updates - fully installed these
C++ Redistributable fully checked and installed

Nothing has worked, and I keep getting the same license error. I own the game on Steam, account is properly linked to EA.

I've seen others with similar issues, but no clear fix. Steam has already confirmed my licenses are valid, but EA doesn’t seem to recognize them.

Can EA_David or EA_Barry assist with this? I’d appreciate any help or guidance!

Thanks for any help!

    Hi there,

Deleting the EA License files and clearing the temporary files might help you with that. Please check the instructions below:

    Delete EA License Files:

    • Make sure the EA app is closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
    • Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
    • Delete all files in the "License" folder.

    Clear your temp files:

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
    • Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
    • Your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
    • (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

    I hope this helps!

  • i have tried this already through EA help chat - still throws the same error. Somehow EA is not issuing licenses properly...

  • Maybe there is a way to force EA servers to re-issue licenses manually. i mean is that a difficult thing to do?
