"There's been an error" when launching game

Hi! Im having trouble launching Sims. It says "There's been an error. Try resetting your password and restarting your game. You can now close this window."

I just downloaded the game and I don't know what's wrong, but it really won't let me start the game. Someone in a forum suggested that there are two accounts linked to it and it can't deal with that? I created an EA account but the game is on my friends computer, and she downloaded it via her steam account. I don't know if she made an EA account also.

How do I fix this?
