update not working

So, I havent played the sims 4 (my only game) for 4 months and a couple of days ago i wanted to play. When I clicked on the sims app it told me to update the game on the ea app, so as it said i did. When I click download update its on 0% done for a minute or 2 and then it says "download error" i've tried multiple times, still the same thing happening! i tried restarting the app and it still didn't work.. i have no idea what should i do to help!! i want to play my game!! (by the way i use a laptop)
