Sorry to hear you're running into this.
Please try performing a clean reinstall of the EA app first.
Please also make sure background applications are closed, and add the EA app as an exception in your antivirus or firewall settings.
You can also try running the EA app updater as administrator from the same folder where the EA app .exe is located.
Some players have also shared a community workaround involving EA services and folder permissions. If you’re comfortable changing Windows service and folder settings, you can try the following carefully:
- Open Windows Services.
- Find EAAntiCheatService and EABackgroundService.
- Right-click each service, select Properties, then go to the Log On tab.
- Make sure the service is allowed to log on as the Local System account.
- Check Allow service to interact with desktop.
- Go to these folders and make sure they are not set to Read-only:
- C:\Program Files\EA
- C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts
- C:\Program Files\EA\AC
- C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop
- Then go to the EA app installation folder and set the following files to Run as administrator under Properties > Compatibility:
- EADesktop.exe
- EALauncher.exe
- EAUpdater.exe
- You can also do the same for EAAntiCheat.GameService.exe, usually located in C:\Program Files\EA\AC.
Thanks.
