@BillFrmAccnting Are you talking about Origin for macOS or the EA App for Windows? Both have a setting to start with the OS that can be disabled. It should be under (Application) Settings > Application in either case.

Thanks for your input!
It's for Windows but that setting is disabled in both the App and in my Task Manager startup section, this is why it's problematic.
The app is launching automatically after I've explicitly told it not to, and NOT on Windows startup. Just randomly. Sketch and a half, and coming from EA of all companies only doubles down on the sketchiness of it all.
I have all my stupid game launchers disabled at boot because I don't need 17 worthless apps at all times (I'm still annoyed that companies like EA and Ubi decided they needed their own at all) but EAs is the only one that thinks it knows what I want better than I do and decides to launch on its whims.

@BillFrmAccnting I've noticed that the EA App sometimes decides that it should open with Windows after it updates itself. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's worth checking after an update or when you notice the App starting when it shouldn't.
Aside from that, you could stop the service when you're not looking to play an EA game. In case you don't know where to look, hit Windows key-R, enter "msconfig" without quotes, click Services, find the EABackgroundService on the list, and uncheck the box. The App shouldn't be able to open without this. And you can reverse it whenever you want.
I agree that the App should never open without user input. But since it's not cooperating with you right now, this might be the best approach for the moment.

I have exactly the same problem as you, all options off to prevent it auto launching. And I have the services set to manual in windows even, so they should only start when prompted by the application to do so.
It does not come up at start up, it happens usually when I leave my PC on at night. I wake up to the EA app being open. I've had this on numerous installs of fresh Windows now, so I know it's the app that does this. To call it sketch it an understatement. It's completely absurd, and there is no reason for it to do this.
