Windows PC EA app not launching

EA App not starting on windows 10. Try to reinstall, but this doesn`t help, app not working, just nothing happens after clicking on app, and if i go in the task manager the only think that i see is EABackround Service

To enable the "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" option on Windows 10, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings:
    1. Press `Windows + I` to open the Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Language Settings:
    1. Click on "Time & Language."
    2. In the left sidebar, select "Language."
  3. Open Administrative Language Settings:
    1. Scroll down and click on "Administrative language settings" under the "Related settings" section on the right side.
  4. Access Region Settings:
    1. In the Region window, go to the "Administrative" tab.
  5. Change System Locale:
    1. Click on the "Change system locale..." button.
  6. Enable Beta UTF-8 Option:
    1. In the "Region Settings" window, check the box next to "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support."
    2. Click "OK" to apply the changes.
  7. Restart Your Computer:
    1. You will need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

By following these steps, you will enable the UTF-8 support for worldwide language support on your Windows 10 system.

  • Hello everyone!

    On Windows 7, since the last EA app update, I had been having this problem where the app wouldn't lauch and an empty box with a red X pops up.

    After trying to follow thousands os instructions from different forums, I found something that solved the problem for me! I'm sharing it, hoping it will help you guys too.

    I found this website here: https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-app/troubleshoot-ea-app-and-directx/ , and that's when I figured it out.

    At first I couldn't update it 'cause my Windows Update had the Error 80072efe, so I followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fceYiVzaIvA . It's in Portuguese but, basically, all you gotta do is:

    If it doesn't solve the problem to you, install DirectX End-User Runtime suggested at the first link.

    EA App is running normally again after I followed these steps, I hope it can help you too!

    Hey @thuanyribas1,

    I saw the video, I'm having problems with Windows Update too but it doesnt show this 80072efe error. I have a lot of updates to install, but it just doesnt update, always reverts back when restarting Windows. Do you know if this KB3138612 update can solve this problem too? I checked the update list here and this one isnt installed in my PC.

  • I'm not sure if the KB3138612 update can fix it. But you can try to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter by opening your Control Panel, then clicking on "Find and fix problems" and then "Fix problems with Windows Update" to see if that fixes it.

    If it doesn't, maybe a desperate solution could be to check the available updates found by Windows Update and install them one by one on the Microsoft Update Catalog website... but this requires a lot of patience.

    I really believe that as soon as you manage to update Windows, the EA App will launch again.

    I tried updating Windows and DirectX, but it didnt worked... I fixed my problem with Windows' updates, but EA App still doesnt work. Anyways, thank you!

    One last try: maybe you've already tried this, but... now that your Windows is updated,you can go to the programs installed on your computer and right click on EA App then "Uninstall" and then click on "Repair" when the window pops up.
