(yet another) Mass Effect Adromeda (plus others) Won't Launch

It's been a problem for awhile (Windows 11 24H2), and I don't want to reinstall windows just to fix EA games when Steam, GOG, and Ubisoft all work. What is causing the game to never launch? The game will run on my laptop, but not my desktop.

I've tried setting admin mode under the executable properties (both the the main exe and trial). I've deleted and redownloaded the game several times. I've tried installing the EA app under the C: drive as well as ME:A. I've even used geek uninstaller to nuke the EA app and Mass Effect Andromeda to no avail.

I do not have, nor have I ever had mods for this or any EA app (or Origin app) game (no frostbite or w/e that is under Environmental Variables).

Some other EA app games that I bothered to test seem to work, such as Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Jedi Survivor, and Fallen Order. However BF1 closes out the same as ME:A, and Squadrons and Bulletstorm Lite errors out (0xc000007b).

Is it just the EA app being garbage, or is there some setting or app that could cause this?

  • After.. well, I don't know how long that I've been troubleshooting this off an on this past year... after a long time, I've finally figured it out.

You MUST sign into the EA app with your username and NOT your email.

Such a terrible, terrible user experience. EA, you all should be ashamed.

I forgot to mention that sfc /scannow and DISM online checks are good, same for error checks on my SSDs. DirectX webupdate and .NET  shows the latest already installed, and I have the last two versions of Visual C++ installed (14 and 12, x86 and x64) - repairing them doesn't help. I use Windows Defender and not a third party virus scan.
