Can't unlink old account from Xbox

Question

I have an old EA account linked to my Xbox account, but I don't have access to the email it was made with nor do I have any information to prove it is mine. I don't care about getting the account back, I just don't want it linked to my Xbox account anymore, but for some reason Xbox isn't able to do anything about it.

I already contacted EA support 3 times, and every time I'm unable to prove ownership of the account, because I haven't used it in years.

I’m sorry to hear you’re stuck with this. I understand you’re not trying to recover the old EA Account and only want to unlink it from your Xbox account.
For account security reasons, our support team does need to verify ownership before they can make changes to an EA Account or its linked platform accounts. Unfortunately, we’re not able to unlink accounts through the forums.
I’d recommend checking these steps for more information about unlinking platform accounts.
If you no longer have access to the email on the EA Account, this guide may also help with account recovery options.
When contacting support again, try to provide as much account-related information as possible, such as the old email address, EA ID, Xbox Gamertag, or any purchase details connected to the account.

I've tried providing as much information as I can, but I don't even remember making the account. I've probably used it like 6 years ago, and I haven't made any purchases on it. Why can't I just log into the account using my Xbox account?

I understand why that feels frustrating, especially if the account is that old and you barely remember ever creating it.
The difficulty here is that even if the Xbox account is linked, our support team still needs to verify ownership of the EA account itself before changes like unlinking can be made. So I’m afraid this isn’t something we’d be able to override from the forums.
