Can't Unlink Unauthorized EA Account from Steam — Locked Out of Games I Paid For

Hello EA community and support,

I’m posting here because after more than a week of trying to fix this issue through EA Support, I still haven’t received a real answer, solution, or even consistent help.

Some time ago, my Steam account was hacked, and during that period someone linked it to an unauthorized EA account ending in @live.ie. That account is not mine, and I have no way to access or unlink it.

Important detail: at the time of the hack, I wasn’t even using a PC — I was playing exclusively on PlayStation 5. Someone else used my Steam account and linked their EA account to it without my knowledge.

As a result, I am now completely locked out of every EA game I’ve purchased on Steam. All of them try to connect to the wrong EA account. I'm trying to link my Steam profile to my real EA account — the one I’ve used before via Xbox PC Game Pass and where I have actual game progress — but your system blocks me from doing that unless I unlink the account I don’t own.

Here is my Steam profile:🔗 https://steamcommunity.com/id/notreald1zzy/

I am the original and only owner of this Steam account and can provide any proof of ownership required. One agent told me to change my Steam display name, which I did. Another told me to wait a few hours and said the case would stay open — but no one ever followed up. I’ve been through multiple agents, repeated myself countless times, uploaded screenshots, followed all instructions — and nothing has changed.

Even worse, I can no longer use the “Chat with us” feature on my main EA account. It simply disappeared. I had to contact support from a second account. And now, even when I try to "Resume Case", the page just refreshes and nothing opens — no chat, no progress. I’ve lost connection with agents multiple times just by accidentally refreshing or closing the page. That’s how fragile and broken the system is.

To top it all off, EA’s websites no longer work for me unless I use a VPN, proxy, or switch to mobile internet. It’s absurd — I’m locked out not only from my games, but from support itself.

I’ve attached screenshots showing the linking error and my Steam info, and a full transcript of the chats with support agents (see: transcript.txt).

Now let me be blunt — I paid real money for these games. I worked for that money. I didn’t pirate anything. I bought your games legally, and now I’m being punished for it.

I’m locked out of content I rightfully own, stuck in broken systems, ignored by support, and left with zero options.

Meanwhile, pirates? They download, install, and play. No logins. No linked account errors. No waiting. If this is how EA treats paying customers, you're actively encouraging piracy — because at least that way, people can actually play the game they want.

Right now, I can’t. I’d really appreciate if a community manager or someone from EA could escalate this or actually take responsibility. Please help me unlink the unauthorized EA account from my Steam, so I can use my own account and play the games I legally own.

Thanks.

Hi there. I removed the images from your message as they contained personal details that can be used to hack accounts. Please do not ever post your private details on public spaces online.

As far as this issue goes, you'll need to contact an advisor again. Try creating a case without being logged in. You should get the option for chat. Cases can be opened here.

Hi, thanks for your reply — but I need to clarify something very important.

I have already contacted Steam Support. They explicitly told me that only EA can unlink an EA account from a Steam account, as the linking system is fully controlled by EA. Steam has no access or ability to manage third-party account links.

This is not a Steam-side issue. This is entirely on EA’s side.

According to EA’s own official help article:

“If your Steam account is linked to the wrong EA Account, you’ll need to contact us so we can help you unlink it.”

    Source: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/linking-your-ea-account-to-platforms/

Right now, I’m being told to go in circles — EA tells me to contact Steam, Steam tells me to contact EA. Meanwhile, I’m completely locked out of the games I legally purchased, because someone else linked their EA account to my Steam during a hack — at a time when I wasn’t even using PC, I was playing exclusively on PlayStation 5.

Please don’t redirect me again. I’m asking EA Support to take responsibility, review the case properly, and unlink the unauthorized account from my Steam so I can use my own EA account.

    Thanks.

Advisors can unlink accounts for you as long as you can verify account ownership. We cannot help with account related issues over the forums. You will need to contact an advisor again as I mentioned previously.

Thanks for your response, but I need to be absolutely clear about what’s happening.

I’ve already spoken to five different EA advisors, and not a single one has been able to help. Here's what I’ve experienced across all chats:

Most of them don’t understand basic English properly, which leads to miscommunication and repeated errors.

They don’t seem to understand how EA Support is supposed to work, nor do they follow EA’s own internal policies.

They keep giving me false information, such as saying “EA cannot help” or that I should “contact Steam.”Let me say it loud and clear — this is completely false.

EA’s own official article says the following:    “If your Steam account is linked to the wrong EA Account, you’ll need to contact us so we can help you unlink it.”    Source: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/linking-your-ea-account-to-platforms/

Steam cannot unlink EA accounts. They have confirmed this to me directly. This entire issue must be handled by EA, and yet your advisors seem unaware of this.

Every time I contact support, I clearly explain what I need, provide screenshots, full chat history, Steam profile, and proof of ownership. And what happens? I waste 20 minutes being asked the same exact questions every other agent already asked. Then they stall and give the same useless line: “Please contact Steam.” I’m telling them, very clearly:    “All I need is to verify ownership of my Steam account so you can unlink the EA account that was attached during a hack.” That’s it. I’m not asking for anything complicated. And instead of solving the issue, they repeat the same script and refuse to take responsibility for a system EA controls. Please escalate this. This is unacceptable. I'm a paying customer being denied access to my own games because of EA's internal chaos and misinformation. Enough is enough.

There would be a specific reason if they are sending you to Steam support. If that's what they keep telling you, it's best to contact them. Unfortunately, we can't help with anything account related over the EA Forums.
