Xbox account link problems

I keep trying to link my Xbox and EA accounts but I keep getting this error

Your accounts can’t be linked because your Xbox account hollowfield already linked to your EA Account for 69*****@disabled.ea.com. An EA Account can only be linked to one Xbox account in its lifetime.

I have only ever had 1 Xbox and 1 EA account so I'm not sure what the problem is.
