it takes two download intalling the friends pass instead of the full game pc

my friend is trying to download it takes two using xbox game pass but everytime he clicks download on xbox it brings him to ea and it starts donloading the friends pass. on  ea it says he has to buy it. his xbox account is linked to his ea account.
