It’s not so much they are very fast on the straights. But more a case off they car carrying more speed through the last corner and onto the straight than you are. Which is all to do with traction. using analog sticks hinders you cause it’s harder to be smooth when opening the steering and is your using full tc. You won’t be able to accelerate until tc can’t detect wheel slip. Not a issue through medium to fast corners. But slower corners try short shifting which you can still do if using auto gears
I currently use no Tc, am on a wheel and I'm mostly noticing this when I'm at maximum speed on a straight, the ai seems to be way faster on the straight, and when i asked around on discord several people said that there is a glitch where the AI can deploy basically infinite ers or something to that nature
Was the same last year they have unlimited ers
@haardcorefoley Was this by design or was it patched?

@LittleAmigoBrit Sorry fella for some reason thought you was using a pad:
No problem! I didn't specify it originally lol
Its outrageous how you can be on the ERS DRS wide open and they pull half a second on you in a straight line
Same. I will match AI out of a turn into a long straight. Within a few seconds, they take off. I get passed by every driver on the grid eventually. I gain time in corners but lose it back plus some on the straights.
edit: I use a wheel and no TC or other assists.
I heard in the last dev videos, that Height settings will have a big influence on the top spee :, lower will be the car, lower will be you're top speed but you will have more grip in corners. And Higher the car will be, higher will be the top speed, but car will have less grip in corners.
- @haardcorefoley I have noticed this so often, I can be behind a car with DRS open and a car behind with be 1.5 seconds behind and breeze past with no DRS.
its taking the * really to have to over drive the car that much to be competative, we just race fore fun me and a few mates , with a few ai and its not enjoyable right now we normally have them on 80 someone to chase if you fall off etc
but right now they on 60 and we are still getting whipped,
They must have unlimited ERS
- @LittleAmigoBrit I did several tests when exiting a bend followed by a long straight line with all the cars and with tc or without tc, the problem is that the AI on the acceleration will be at full speed whereas we are human without tc we have to dose the acceleration otherwise the car will spin and with tc the help will ensure that the car does not spin so will do:
acceleration, no acceleration, acceleration, no acceleration, acceleration, no acceleration and that over a second to a second and a half (it's huge in F1) when the AI will be in constant acceleration and will not lose the car, suddenly with any stable will have better acceleration.
I tested with ferrari and red bull against williams, aston martin, mclaren in a lap without drs with a 1.5 second gap or even 2 seconds, I catch myself directly out of a turn, I defend myself with the ers to count on my max speed, but except that after a while I have no more ers, but the ai seems to have ers at infinity suddenly I get doubled.
I qualify for example 5th I finish 10th or even more and that has almost all the races.
Usually I play at 79-80 then I'm at 69 and I still think it's gone down otherwise it's not realistic. - Hansenhaus4 years agoNew Veteran
Experiencing this as well. Playing Bahrain at 95AI. No assists and driving as Sergio Perez in GP mode. With DRS and ERS engaged I can barely get by another car on the front straight. Something just seems out of whack. I thought Red Bull had a straight line speed advantage and yet I can't get passed a Mercedes no matter how perfect I exit the last corner. I have to out brake them into turn one and the AI turns into me all the time unless I have a wheel ahead of them. It's like they have zero awareness that you are along side.
I tried the top speed preset and still struggled to get by with DRS and ERS.
Mainly I've been using TRL's setup but lowered the on throttle diff to avoid spinning on corner exits. I even lowered the front and rear wings by 4 each and did not gain any top speed advantage.
My other gripe is new tires feel like I'm driving in the wet. 20-30% throttle will spin me out. I can barely get through turn 1 and 2 at Bahrain coming out of the pits and I lose the race every time on my out lap.
There definitely is a problem with AI’s top speed don’t let anyone tell you any different. I play on 90 AI and even still when I bump it down to 70 I’m still losing 0.400-0.800 each lap on Baku straight. I’ve tried different set ups and no matter what I’m getting burnt on the straights. I’ll have ERS on overtake and DRS and I’ll still only gain around 0.100 on the car ahead, it’s ridiculous at this point and needs fixing

Hey everyone,
I have noticed that in my gameplay as well, and will also happily take your feedback and experience here and pass that over to our team. If you have any observations or more feedback on this, please let me know 👍

Thanks for the response. I hope we can get an official word on whether or not something is broken. Could it be the players car has a capped top speed? Even with wing setting around 10-20 range, max tire pressures and the lowest ride height I am struggling to pass on the main straight in Bahrain (driving as Perez) with DRS and ERS combined. I should be blowing by the AI when they do not have DRS. I've had AI cars gain on me while I have DRS and they don't. If the AI cars have DRS behind me they rapidly catch up in a way I'm not able to do to them.
Shouldn't Red Bull should have the fastest straight line speed? It does not appear they do.
- @EA_rephii This passage of my message explains the problem well.:
I did several tests when exiting a bend followed by a long straight line with all the cars and with tc or without tc, the problem is that the AI on the acceleration will be at full speed whereas we are human without tc we have to dose the acceleration otherwise the car will spin and with tc the help will ensure that the car does not spin so will do:

I qualify for example 5th I finish 10th or even more and that has almost all the races.
PS: I was told that with this problem of the AI in a straight line because it has a cheater acceleration suddenly it uses less ers which makes it hard to believe that it has unlimited ers The AI have 10-15 mph over us, we can't run anyless aero and they still catch us even on 0-0 aero they blast past yu like you are standing still
they seem to have unlimted ers or something
Please have the team fix this. It’s degrading and discouraging to us long term fans that are use to playing the AI on a specific difficulty. The AI’s straight line speed is insanity and it leaves to ultra inconsistent racing. I can be way faster everywhere else and then lose a good 2 seconds due to the AI catching me so fast.
Please fix the OP AI on straights on Xbox and PlayStation

The AI is killing me at sector 3 in jeddah because of this. I'm comfortably ahead in S1 and S2 though, so maybe they should get an advantage lol.
Yes mate it’s brutal I can’t stay ahead even though I’m torching them in corners. Fix this please!
@EA_rephii Thank you for replying and letting us know you are working on it, in general, I believe a bit more communication between Codemasters and the userbase is needed (especially right now)

@EA_rephii Thanks, I hope it gets patched. I experience the same as the others here. AI incredible quick on the straights. Lowering AI difficulty does not affect it much. They just get slower on the corners. This makes racing quite unrealistic and not enjoyable.
I'm just going to confirm this is an issue for me as well. Been playing the series for years around 95% difficulty and suddenly the AI is way faster than me this year. Last year that difficulty was doable for me but much more challenging than previous games. This year I've lowered to 85% and am still significantly slower than the AI. Something is amiss for sure.
