I had the same issue on PS5 and the cause was that the child account's region was incorrect.
This could only be changed in Family Management on the PS5.
The issue is restriction of web browsing, if EA put up a verify pop-up then the console breaks it because of the web browsing restriction even though it's not typical web browsing which is what is supposed to be restricted. That's why is suddenly stops working because they randomly ask for verification from the adult. Switch off the restriction, do what they want, then put it back and it should be sorted.
