I opened a case with EA, and their reply is only "the bonus items are for the account that made the purchase only". They don't care that it was a gift, for a minor, or anything else. When asked if they expected a minor to purchase their own games and how they would do that, the answer was unrelated.
Extremely disappointing, think I won't be pre-ordering anything from EA from here on out...
