I did eventually manage to start the save after a few tries at that stage. However as you can see in my rant post above, I ran into a much worse issue (that I saw a lot of people on other threads have experienced) since playing a few months into the first season of that save... so does that mean that's it? Like can I not play this anymore??? How such a supposedly big company can make such a broken game is beyond a joke. I'm livid man.
I hope you were able to fix it for yours. If you have a solution, please let me know so I can salvage it.

having the exact same problem. i cant even play career mode now. I've started 3 different careers with a custom Lamine Yamal for barcelona and each one gets corrupt and doesnt allow me to change squad or enter squad hub. it just crashes over and over. even my old career modes crash the game. I CAN NOT PLAY FC24 ANYMORE. PLEASE HELP!
