Nintendo Switch “Software closed due to an error”

I’m using an OLED switch with the game on cartridge and installed to the system with no SD card. When trying to connect online the whole game crashes with an error message, this happens 80% of the time and it’s hard to replicate situations where it managed to work and connect. I deleted everything and reinstalled, this fixed it for about a day and then it started doing the error again. I cleared the cache on the switch and save data, again this temporarily fixed it until it started crashing again. I tried only starting the game in docked mode and this fixed it a few times and now this method no longer works.
Also starting the whole game offline and then later connecting online via choosing ultimate team, this worked for a while and now this again causes the game to crash. Very strange that many methods fixed the problem but then also stopped working.

  • Do you happen to have the character ‘&’ in your Switch username? I previously did and removed & from my name and I no longer have the crashing problem. Hope this helps.

  • @Roger-Magician I am currently having this same issue and cannot seem to find a troubleshoot anywhere including through EA, (I know right, the creators of their own game don't even know how to fix it). It is driving me insane. Did you find a solution to this issue?

It seems to be a problem with customized tactics.
Delete your team in web app and set up a blank team with standard tactic.
Now you should be able to log in UT again.
