Pro CLubs

I have a playstation 4 and I'm trying to play with my friends on Pro Clubs and they have a playstation 5 but it's not letting me join them and it says I can't play with them or my console isn't compatible. What do I do or what am I doing wrong?

There is cross-platform play but not cross-gen play.

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions being able to play cross-platform

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions being able to play cross-platform

Switch will be excluded from any cross-platform play.
