Here's the thing I need everyone to understand: Just because the network issue is isolated to EA SPORTS FC 24, it does not necessarily debunk the 'undersea cable theory'. I know everyone is hooked on the major conspiracy that EA is biting its nose to spite its face by 'sabotaging' SAern players.
I honestly do not see where they benefit from doing so or lying about their fault-finding methods. Here's what I can deduce:
1. The local server might be at full capacity or undergoing maintenance, prompting the system to reroute players to the next best server that can handle the additional load, even if it's geographically farther away.
2. Issues in the network infrastructure, such as damaged cables or problematic routing paths, can affect how data is directed through the internet.
3. The undersea cable outages in West Africa being cited as a reason for high latency makes technical sense, as these cables are primary pathways for transcontinental internet traffic, including for online gaming.
4. When such cables are damaged, the data must be rerouted over alternative paths that are often longer and more congested, leading to higher latency.
5. EA SPORTS FC 24 might use specific internet pathways or servers that are more impacted by the specific cable damage than other games.
6. Other games might not rely on the same cables if their primary servers for African players are located in different regions or configured differently in terms of data routing.
7. Some game networks might have more robust network setups with better redundancy across different cables and pathways.
EA has a checkered history with dodgy servers but I can't remember a time this has happened before. Especially for this long.
P.S.: I don't work for EA, have no affiliation and certainly not looking for a job when I pay my own salary every month.
