Honest Review of the EA Sports FC 25
This game does not deserve the nerves and the frustration it causes to be expressed in a written form so I will use different language here.
Without a doubt FC 25 is probably the dumbest football game I've ever played in my life, without exaggeration. EA Vancouver and EA Romania - have you ever seen or played a football match in your life before? Because it does not seem so! Or you North Americans outsourced your work to Eastern Europe, but did not listen to the developers and some wannabe "manager" was taking all the decisions, thinking they know it all? Won't be surprised if that is the truth - it happens quite too often these days.
And you want money for that... thing? Not only the game, but PlayStation Plus too? For that quality it should be free-to-play. This game is 15 years behind both in gameplay and graphics. It is like someone made it in their free time - no offense, it is true. In 2025 such quality is simply unacceptable. Come on there's things in the game which were problematic since 15 years ago - still not fixed.
But let's discuss it:
1. "Grannies in the box" - for players who cost millions of Euro in real life to be able to make through pass from half the field away and then when in the goalkeepers box not to be able to pass from 10 meters away is an achievement. I will pass it correctly from so short a distance, but I guess that "feature" which probably FIFA 2010 had is still present. Simply all passes in the box are as if some grandmas are playing the game.
2. "Impossible is nothing" - goals are scored from more impossible situations than possible ones. It is simply true. From almost 180 degree angles it is not a problem to go 1 m close to the goalkeeper and score, but on an empty goal it is difficult I understand that completely. Pretty normal phenomenon.
3. "Glued Siamese Twins" - I call it like that when suddenly my or the opponents players just decide to stick together. They indeed have probably decided to become Siamese Twins since instead of chasing the ball or simply go around they are like glued together.
4. "Where the F**K I am?" - yes, being with your back towards the ball when it is close to you is something which is constantly done in real football. It gives you situational awareness and a good orientation on the filed, especially if you are multi-milion player.
5. "Not interested" - I guess motivation is a hard thing to achieve these days as sometimes even when as close as 2 meters from the ball players just decide not to try to take or intercept it. They did not feel it I guess which is absolutely understandable.
6. "Circus, not a match" - yeah, entertainment is key I fully get it. That's why acrobatics are more efficient than reality and I understand that being on the ground and simultaneously with that able to take the ball and even pass it successfully is what makes realism. Is there a way to unlock flying or something similar?
7. "Ghost in kit" - I didn't know that it is possible to take the ball from behind of someone who already has it in front of them. Happens quite often I'd say, but probably being incorporeal is a problem in my whiny eyes. Who am I to take their right to participate in a match, right?
8. "You will never walk alone" - actually you will, since it is much easier to play the game just running with a single player who is passing like 5 defenders than to try to make a combination resembling something real. Why even bother? This is especially valid when playing with Barcelona, but it is working with other teams too. Invalidating skill and actual willingness to achieve something resembling real football - hah, of course we will have it in the game.
9. "Meta" - it says it all. I guess we're playing Dota 2 or League of Legends.
10. "There is no AI 'scripting' in EA Sports" - There isn't indeed! It's a myth! Recently I just started letting the opponent score 2:0 in the beginning/first half so when the game decides to completely shut his defense off and help me in the later stage, because I'm losing the match to score as much as I can of my ridiculous situations and finish the match 2:6 or 3:7 or something.
11. "Headers? What are headers?" - it says it all. Why to have something which is the reason for 30% of the goals in football while we simply can make it look as if it is removed from the game. Nicely done! That's the spirit!
12. "Goal-letters, not keepers" - yeah, why bother to reach out when the ball is passing 10 cm away from the goalkeeper when they can simply let it in. We can't expect them to actually do their job, can we?
Overall that's it in short. But we have female referees, so everything is fine. Nothing to worry about.
EA - you won't see a cent from me anymore!
Cya!
