Career mode and player career mode files disappeared after 16th of April update

So after today's  update when I tried to load any career mode, I got the message no saved games to load, in every single mode.

What the hell happen to my saved files? I had hundreds of hours on many saves, I just played yesterday on one of them.

Can someone explain what the update did to those modes and how to fix it?

I have had the same issue. Made a post about it and went to EA support and they told me it was a problem with my PC and essentially told me to just deal with it even though I have over 450 hours in the game with at least 150 of it in career mode. I had all my career mode slots maxed out and lost them all...

Issue has persisted has game release in September on every platform. Problem stems from EA server career mode cloud storage saves becoming outdated or corrupted after Title Updates, and occationally squad file downloads. On Xbox Series X/S platforms have been able to continue career mode save, only when a manual save is created, in addition to the hard coded auto save. Personally, at the start of every new career mode, I append the file save name with a 'MS' (e.g. Chelsea MS) (MS abbreviation for manual save) for the initial autosave prompt, then immediately create a second save file with 'AS' (Chelsea AS) (AS abbreviation for autosave to distinguish between the two, and ensure always the one auto saved by the game system). As the career progresses, I manually save both files after significant events transpire (closing of transfer market, four or five matches played, etc.) to ensure if update occurs, or game crashes, can avoid redoing several weeks of the career. Remember, whichever career mode save is manually saved last, that becomes the new game autosave, which is overwritten when progressing. If a new bug/glitch has been introduced after Title Update 13 last week, perhaps try three manual saves, instead of the two that have worked, since game launch.

Let's be honest. We know there won't be a fix for this, infact, it'll probably continue to FC26. Career mode players are neglected for one and only one reason... Money.
Ultimate team problems are always addressed or "Solved" because it cost them money and UT players are aggressively vocal online.
Having to solve it with multiple save work arounds and having no support for a known issue is ridiculous, but if they don't acknowledge it, the problem isn't there (to them).
If I come across a fix, i'll 100% make the time to post it here. But for now, to my pals who have lost hundreds of hours of progress, I'm just as angry as you and hope your next Career run is more exciting than the one(s) you lost!

  • New notice says exactly that

We are investigating a stability issue impacting Career Mode saves that were manually or auto-saved from April 16 9:00 AM UTC to April 22 6:54 PM UTC. This includes saves that were created before this window of time, but were saved during this time period. This issue was caused by a Squad Update that has since been rolled back, and these saves will experience stability issues if loaded while we work towards addressing them. Career Mode saves that were created and saved before or after April 16 - April 22 continue to function as usual. We’ll provide an update on our investigation when available, and you can follow this issue directly on our EASFC Tracker.

    Thanks perfectioncat.

Unfortunately nothing there except settings files. What a stupid waste of time and money playing this game

Same happened to me after the April 16 update. The game is not detecting Mode Files for Career Mode or Player Career. Check your save folder in Documents > FIFA > Saves or Settings. Also, check your cloud saves if you are using Steam or EA App. Might be a bug, so reporting it to EA Support could help speed up a fix.
