FC25 Anticheat detecting ‘AutoHotKey’

Hi, I’ve been playing EA games on my pc for 5 years with no issues at all with Anticheat. However yesterday for the first ever time, the game could not launch as Anticheat was detecting ‘AutoHotKey’.  I have never once installed this app, I have also never installed any kind of mods or modding software to my pc for any games. I just use my pc for gaming and video editing.

If I repair the anticheat file, I am able to open the game but if i close the game, I am met with the same autohotkey message again when trying to reopen. Is there a known fix for this? As its just happened out of the blue I’m quite confused.

I have the exact same issue on BF V since they updated the anti cheat in middle of May .. despite not having any Autohot key software.  I have to repair the game each time to open it which takes over an hour.  Have sent at least 2 fault reports to EA but not a whisper back nor any sign of a repair.

    Hello Gullboy,

I had the same issue and tried many things, including YouTube videos, but nothing. Finally, a few days ago, I can't remember where I saw a screenshot (see attached) where someone suggested to start disabling some start-up apps from the "icons" section of the taskbar (bottom right side). My issue was that a particular app (not AutoHotKey) which I don't have either, but a software, was utilizing "hotkey" as part of my startup app was interfering with Anticheat. So now, every time I start my computer and want to play F1 25, I "exit" or "suspend" the app, interfering with AntiCheat. Hope this helps.

  • Hi, did you ever resolve this ? EA support are doing their usual head in the sand and ignoring my request

Yeah, EA has not been all that usefull at all.

I have "kinda" resolved this. It is quick temp fix that you need to do everytime  before you load the game. Takes 5-10 seconds or so. Super annoying but works.

I am away from the pc but here is the rough way to fix it.

    1. Find the location where your FC25 is installed I think you can do via right click on FC25 in steam.
    2. Open the installation folder and go to Anticheat folder (not sure what it is named), run the Anticheat exe. Select FC25 from the dropdown (select the installation folder I think it is the same one as in step1), click REPAIR.
    3. Then run the game

Annoyingly you have to do it everytime. Good luck.

Same problem here with F1 2024, never had a problem up until now, if they don't fix I will not be playing EA anymore.

Auto Hotkey is too useful to ditch.

Other people having the same problem with other apps, this not acceptable.

You should not have to mess around closing apps or doing repairs. This is shoddy software written in a hurry with no thought to users other programs. Anti-cheat should have exceptions the same as anti virus programs. This is laziness.

  • The fix of repairing the anticheat doesn't work anymore. This is an absolute disgrace, and EA must find a fix for this, or offer refunds.

I have an update. I was able to find the program that was causing these false positives. If you have Game Companion running on your PC, shut it down and uninstall it. I did  a search for AHK using the Process Explorer App, and found this is what causes the error. I hope this helps you all.

To line up the steps I took:
    Download Process Explorer
Extract the files from the zip folder
    Launch Process Explorer as Administrator
Use the search feature and search for AHK
From there you should find which app is running an AHK script, and then you can close it and uninstall it if necessary.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hey everyone, I think I found a fix. I've had this issue and for some reason I think Rainmeter is interfering with the EA AntiCheat. So just uninstall Rainmeter.
