GetDeviceRemovedReason

Subject: Constant DirectX Error in FC 25 (RTX 4060)

Hello EA Support,

I always get this error while playing FC 25:
"DirectX function GetDeviceRemovedReason failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG"

My GPU is an RTX 4060, and I have already installed the latest drivers.
This issue happens every time I play FC 25.

Interestingly, I did not experience this problem with FC 24 on the exact same system and settings.

I’ve also tried other basic fixes like verifying game files and checking for Windows updates, but the issue persists.

Could you please help me identify what’s causing this, or suggest any further steps?

Thank you.

  • I had the exact same issue with my RTX 5080. This is a widespread problem with NVIDIA's latest 576.xx drivers.

For your RTX 4060, here's what fixed it:

    1. Download NVIDIA driver 572.83
    2. Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) from guru3d.com
    3. Run DDU - it completely removes all NVIDIA driver traces that normal uninstall misses
    4. Install 572.83

DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller - it's a tool that cleanly removes GPU drivers when normal Windows uninstall leaves corrupted files behind. Essential for fixing driver conflicts like this.

Why this works: The 576.xx driver branch broke EA FC 25 compatibility for RTX 40/50 series cards. 572.83 is the last stable version before this mess. Rolling back to the earlier 576.xx version did not fix the issue for me.

RTX 40/50 series users with EA FC 25. Multiple people confirmed this fix works.

Hope this helps! Let me know if it works for you.

    Hi again,

I ran the system file check as you suggested, and it found corrupted files and succesfully repaired them. I've restarted my system and will now test FC 25 again. I'll let you know if the error still occurs. If the issue doesn't occur again in the next few days, I will mark this as solution

Thanks for your support so far!

  • Same error here!  I can start a match when there is a cutscene, the game crashes. I will ask for my money back.

    Crash Error message:

"DirectX function GetDeviceRemovedReason failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG"

    Windows Event Viewer logs:

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    \Device\000000b8
    Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource is present, but the message was not found in the message table

My GPU is an RTX 5070 TI, and I have already tried all the Nvidia drivers available for RTX 50.
