Stuck on substitute

I’m online games, Seasons mode, if I make any in game tactical changes (without pausing), and then I pause to make substitutions, the screen gets stuck there and I can’t go back to the game. Pressing O doesn’t do anything.

not only that, but substitution doesn’t even work, you select to players to swap and nothing changes.

in online mode, there’s a count down so it will return to the game anyway, but when this happens during a local kickoff game, you’re stuck, and have to close the game completely, lose the game and go back.

this is very disappointing and making the game unplayable.
